Biography

Laura comes to Waterloo from nearby Heidelberg, ON but played both high school and OBA club basketball in Kitchener-Waterloo last year. She is a 5'9 guard that can and will be called upon to play multiple positions for the Warriors this season. She fits with the team's theme of long and athletic players, and combines it with a high basketball IQ. Her brother Dave Burnett just finished his career as a captain and starting point guard with men's team at Waterloo and expectations are for her to have similar success. Her KW Lightning OBA team won the gold medal in the Junior Division 1 finals at the provincial championships last season and the Warriors are excited to add another player from that very successful club program. Her ball handling and decision making are expected to make an impact right away. Laura was on her school's honour roll for 4 straight years and will also be studying in the Kinesiology program in Waterloo's Applied Health Sciences Department.
