A Hamilton, Ont. native, Drew Smillie has a diverse coaching background. Drew has served as an assistant with Lincoln Prep Academy in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA). During his two years with Lincoln Prep, he has helped the Huskies to win an OSBA championships in 2018.

Smilie has also head coached for a number of years for Transway JUEL and JUEL Prep. Recently, his JUEL Prep squad captured gold with an impressive undefeated season. Smillie also took home Coach of the Year honours for the league.

Drew has also served an assistant coach for Team Ontario U14 & U18 Girls programs in 2019, 2020 respectively. This summer he represented Ontario at the Canada Summer Games where the team earned bronze. He is also a long-standing Centre for Performance Hamilton Pod Region coach.

Coach Smillie graduated with degrees in Political Science and Geography from McMaster University and holds a Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Currently, he works as a middle school teacher in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.
