Derek Linwood enters his second year as an assistant coach of the women's basketball program. Having an already extensive history with youth basketball in his hometown of Fergus, Derek has agreed to take on the initiative of creating a youth community development strategy on top of his assistant coaching responsibilities. This will involve increasing the team's presence in the Waterloo community over the coming season, as well as hosting camps and clinics next spring and summer.
Derek is currently completing his undergraduate degree at Waterloo in Recreation & Sports Business (co-op), and looks to put his education into action with this position. He has been coaching at development leagues, summer camps, and elementary schools for a number of years, and will work to obtain his coaching qualifications in order to continue coaching at an elite level.
