Matt, a Perth, Ontario native, is entering his 19th season as a member of the Warriors coaching staff and had a four-year playing career with the Warriors.  As a player, McGahey was a four-time Academic All-Canadian and won the Heart Award in 2002.  Prior to joining the Warriors, Matt played at Massachusetts College in the NCAA.  In 2007, Matt published two books relating to the history of the Waterloo Warriors: The Warriors of Winter - 50 Years of UW Hockey and Fifty Years of Battle, marking the 50th anniversary of athletics at Waterloo. This season, Matt’s primary focus will be with the goaltenders, pre-scouting divisional opponents, recruitment, and alumni development.
