Darrell Adams returns for his 7th season (including the cancelled 2020 campaign) with the black and gold as the Associate Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator.

From 2013-2015, Adams was Defensive Line/Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at Carleton University, and prior to that he was the Head Strength Coach and Assistant Defensive Line coach with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. In June of 2022, Darrell participated in the inaugural CFL Diversity in Sport program serving as guest coach with the Toronto Argonauts.

Coach Adams has been a part of the Football Canada Cup Team Ontario U-18 Coaching Staff as Defensive Coordinator in 2019, as well as Defensive Line Coach in 2018 & 2022. Off the field, Coach DA is a co-founder of The Alliance, a UW Department of Athletics organization working collectively to establish positive systemic changes for the University of Waterloo Black Indigenous & Racialized community through recognition of, education towards & actions against racism.

In addition to his impressive accolades as a coach, Adams has had quite the playing career. Originally from Long Island, NY, Darrell was a 3x Captain and 3x first team All-Conference player at Villanova University (2001-2005) where he graduated with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Marketing. Upon graduation, he joined the NY Jets as an undrafted free agent and spent one and a half seasons (2006-2007) on their practice roster. Adams migrated north to Canada and became a three-year starter at defensive tackle for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2007-2010).
Darrell resides in Mississauga, ON with his wife Amrita, son Isaiah and daughter Aaliyah.
