Shannon was first introduced to field hockey in grade 9 at Preston High School, in Cambridge. She instantly fell in love with the game and went on to play four years at PHS before finishing at Galt Collegiate Institute in her OAC year.
Early in her high school career she also became a member of the Springfield Hockey Association in Waterloo Region. As an active member, Shannon has been a coach, umpire, and of course, player for the league. During her 14 years with the Kitchener Klassics club, she has contributed to various season championships and tournament wins. Shannon has also teamed up with other members of the Springfield Hockey Association to help create the Waterloo Indoor Field Hockey Club, which is a league open to women of all ages. She continues to help coordinate this league.
After high school, Shannon continued her studies at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, where she was a varsity player. She was awarded Academic All Canadian for all of the years she played with Saint Mary’s and travelled to Ontario to represent the AUS field hockey in the CIS finals. After completion of her BSc, Shannon returned to Waterloo and completed her MSc at Wilfrid Laurier University where she stayed connected to the game by helping to organize a WLU field hockey club, umpired in the local high school league, and remained connected to the local field hockey scene. This will be her third season helping with the Warriors.
Off the pitch, Shannon enjoys snowboarding, reading, and hanging out with family and friends.
