The UW Dance Company is the University of Waterloo’s competitive dance team. As a club, we represent the university at three varsity-level competitions each year, competing against top university and college teams from across Canada. We are proud to be consistently ranked among the top 10 university teams at all competitions and most recently, we earned the title of 2025 Top Team at the View Varsity Dance Challenge!
Our dancers train, choreograph, and perform in a wide range of styles, including jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, acro, hip-hop, lyrical, and contemporary. All of our routines are choreographed by current students on the team and we take pride in the amazing talent of our dancers.
The UW Dance Company is made up of hardworking, passionate dancers who commit to multiple hours of rehearsals and training each week. The season runs from September to April, and all team members are expected to maintain a high level of dedication throughout the year.

<Auditions take place once per year at the beginning of September (on a weekend). The exact date is posted on our social media in advance.
?? Please note: This club requires a high degree of dance skill and commitment. All students are welcome to audition, but must ensure they can commit for the entire season.
Audition Process:
Auditions will take place over one day, with dancers auditioning for each distinct style. All audition decisions are made by the current team captains and are final.
