WATERLOO, Ont. - Squash's Niki Shemirani (Toronto/Hudson College) and Cameron Seth (Fergus/Centre Wellington District Highschool) have been named the W Store Warriors Athletes of the Week, presented by Imprint.
Shemirani and Seth were awarded the OUA women's and men's squash MVP, respectively, at this weekend's OUA Squash Championships, hosted by McMaster.
Shemirani was the only player in the women's division to win six matches, and she did so without dropping a game, going 15-0 for a 6-0 match record. Shemirani won 68% of points and finished with a field-high 5.69 rating, all while leading the Warriors to a fourth-place finish as a team.
This is Shemirani's first Warriors Athlete of the Week award.
Seth and the men's squad also finished fourth. Both Seth and Rayan Hashmi (Calgary/Dhahran High School) also sported undefeated records of 5-0 and 8-0, respectively, with neither dropping a game. Seth, like Shemirani, did it while facing opposing teams' top players, earning him a field-high 6.69 rating at the end of the tournament. He won 67% of his points in what was his sixth OUA Championship appearance.
This was the fourth Warriors Athlete of the Week award for Seth, a graduate student, and his first since 2016 as an undergraduate.
