WATERLOO, Ont. - Golfer Jadelina Tep-Chhun and baseball's Sam Shephard (Belle River, ON/) have been named the W Store Warriors Athletes of the Week, presented by Imprint.
Tep-Chhun, a first-year Kinesiology major, won a bronze medal in her very first OUA tournament, finishing third place at the Queen's Invitational on Sunday at Cataraqui Golf Club in Kingston with a score of five over par.
Shephard led the Warriors to a 3-1 weekend with an outlandish .462 batting average and 1.462 OPS. He hit not one, but two game-winning home runs – one each against Western and McMaster – and totaled six hits, six RBIs, and three runs scored through four games.
"Sam demonstrated why he is one of the top outfielders in the entire OUA this weekend," said Warriors head coach Ben Norris.
"Sam's tremendous defense and quiet leadership help ensure the Warriors remain at the top of the OUA Standings. A third-year Engineering student from Belle River, Ontario, Sam is poised for another OUA all-star calibre season."
This is the first Warriors Athlete of the Week award for both Tep-Chhun and Shephard.
