With the return of Sunday night football (soccer) the Waterloo Warriors took on the York Lions.
The first half of the game had lots of back and forth between the midfield and the Warriors defensive zone. The midfield was locked in with good control by Ashikan Janarththan (Brampton). At the conclusion of the half the score was 0-0. However, if the volume of fans was recorded as a scoring value the Warriors won this by a long shot as the crowd was roaring in support throughout the half.
After two thirds of the match being scoreless, the Lions snuck in a goal off of a free kick to set the score as 1-0 Lions. Play continued to be primarily in the Warriors defensive zone, giving the Warriors goalie Samuel Schafer (Kitchener) a chance to display his skills. After 90 minutes, he totaled 13 key saves.
Up next, the Warriors will take on the Laurier Golden Hawks next Friday, September 13.
