Late Effort Falls Short as Warriors Lose 2-1 to Badgers

This Friday evening, the Waterloo Warriors hosted the Brock Badgers at Warrior Field in a hard-fought match-up. The Warriors nearly struck early in the fourteenth minute when Nikolas Antolcic (Kitchener) sent a perfectly placed ball that almost led to a goal. Waterloo's strong offensive pressure continued, with a corner kick in the fifteenth minute hitting the crossbar and another corner kick being blocked by a precise save from Brock's goalkeeper.

Despite the Warriors early pressure, the Badgers broke through, scoring from close range in the final ten minutes of the first half. Just before the break, Eris Bllacaku (Kitchener) fired a long shot from twenty-five yards out, narrowly missing the top left corner as the home crowd rallied behind their team.

The second half saw the Warriors come out firing, with two corner kicks within the first five minutes. In the sixtieth minute, Waterloo thought they had equalized, but the goal was disallowed due to a delayed offside whistle. As the game neared its conclusion, Brock secured a second goal to make it 2-0.

The Warriors responded with a late goal five minutes from time, as a long ball was headed into a scramble in front of the net before finding its way into the back of the net. Despite their efforts, the Warriors couldn't complete the comeback, falling 2-1.

Up next, the Warriors head to Brock University for a rematch this Sunday.
