Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Waterloo’s Attack Overpowered by Laurier’s Defense

The Waterloo Warriors faced off against the Laurier Golden Hawks in an intense matchup, with Laurier ultimately securing a 3-0 victory.

Laurier applied early pressure, testing Waterloo's defense with several shots. In the 19th minute, Waterloo's goalkeeper James Ramsay (Brockport/Cambridge United - League 1 ON reserve) made a crucial save against Laurier's Joseph Carabetta, keeping the game level. Waterloo responded with attempts of their own, but Laurier's defense, led by Divraj Sandhu, stood firm. The game saw multiple fouls, and Laurier's Leonardo Takahashi earned a yellow card at the 23rd minute. Despite Waterloo's efforts, Laurier broke the deadlock just before halftime. Leonardo Takahashi scored in the 44th minute, giving Laurier a 1-0 lead at the break.

Laurier continued their dominance in the second half. Waterloo's goalkeeper Ramsay was tested frequently, making key saves, including one from a shot by Adriano Colangelo at the 51st minute. However, Laurier doubled their lead in the 71st minute when substitute Sam Ghouli found the back of the net. Waterloo made substitutions in an attempt to turn the tide, but Laurier remained in control. In the 83rd minute, Andrea Chiechi added a third goal, with Nathan Dennis providing the assist. Waterloo substituted in goalkeeper Lorin-Alexander Lope, who made a late save but couldn't prevent the inevitable defeat.

Laurier closed out the match with strong defense, and despite Waterloo's late push, the final whistle confirmed a 3-0 win for the Golden Hawks.
