The Waterloo Warriors women's volleyball team returned to Carl Totzke Court on Friday evening, hosting the RMC Paladins and looking to extend their unbeaten record. Riding the momentum of a strong 4-0 season start, the Warriors aimed to secure another decisive win and they delivered with a clean sweep, taking the match in three sets (25-9, 25-13, 25-8).
The Warriors set the tone right from the start, establishing an early lead in the first set. Avery Kelly (Calgary) played a pivotal role with her strategic tips, consistent serves, and sharp digs, keeping the Warriors firmly in control. At the net, Sydney DeGraauw (Pickering) proved an unbreakable force, blocking the Paladins' attempts and forcing errors. Mackenzie Leu (Waterloo) added to the momentum with a strong serving streak, leading the Warriors to a commanding 25-9 victory in the first set.
The second set saw a more balanced start, with the Paladins intensifying their offense and defense. However, midway through the set, the Warriors created a gap, with Rachael Meilikhan (Toronto) securing crucial points and Stella McKenna (Calgary) delivering a powerful block that kept the Warriors on a scoring roll. Despite RMC's early push, Waterloo's disciplined play carried them through to a 25-13 win, putting them one set away from clinching the match.
The third set opened with an extended rally, ultimately won by the Warriors thanks to Molly White (Fall River) with a strong swing that set the tone for the remainder of the game. Building on this momentum, Waterloo continued to showcase their depth, effectively closing out the match with a decisive 25-8 win in the final set.
With this victory, the Warriors improved their record to a flawless 5-0. They'll face off against the Paladins once more tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. as they look to continue their impressive run.
