The Waterloo Warriors men's basketball team faced the Carleton Ravens in an intense Friday night match up on Carl Totzke Court. Falling 86-77 after four quarters of high speed basketball.
Carleton quickly took control in the opening minutes, jumping out to an early lead with aggressive offensive play. Though the Warriors fought back with scoring contributions from Rafael Llorin (Cambridge) and Isaiah McRae (Burlington), the Ravens' fast-paced offense put them ahead 31-16 after the first quarter.
In the second, Waterloo began to shift the games momentum. Cristian Craciun (Ancaster) displayed strong rebounding that helped the Warriors control the boards, ultimately out rebounding the Ravens 12-10. Isaiah McRae (Burlington) found a rhythm, pouring in 11 points this quarter and bringing the Warriors within striking distance. By halftime, they had narrowed Carleton's lead to just four points, trailing 44-40.
The third quarter proved pivotal, as both teams battled fiercely to maintain an edge. Rafael Llorin (Cambridge) added 11 points, and the Warriors fought to keep pace, though Carleton managed to close the quarter with a 68-61 lead.
In the final quarter, the teams remained evenly matched, each trading possessions. The Warriors showcased sharp passing to generate offensive opportunities and relied on Thach WAL NGER (Cambridge) who's rebounding kept crucial possessions. However, despite a determined effort, they were unable to fully erase the early deficit. Carleton ultimately took the game, but the Warriors' ability to compete on both ends of the floor demonstrated their resilience and skill.
