A pair of women's hockey players had career nights on Friday night in Windsor as the Warriors earned their 19th win of the season, defeating the Lancers 4-2.
Leah Herrfort (Palmerston, ON/) and
Tatum James (Stratford, ON/) surpassed previous single season records in the game as Herrfort had a goal and an assist for 29 points on the season, breaking the women's hockey single season record for most points while
Tatum James (Stratford, ON/) scored one goal giving her 14 on the season, marking a new record for most goals in a season. Very impressive feats for these two members of the Warriors who sit 1-2 in OUA scoring with three games still to play in the regular season.
Kathy Verth (Oakville, ON/) and
Carly Orth (Caledon, ON/) each added goals in the 4-2 win over Windsor as Waterloo won their sixth straight and continue to sit atop the OUA west standings with 51 points while Guelph is four back with 47 points. Windsor sits in third with 39 points.
Unfortunately, the Warriors' six game win streak would be snapped on Saturday night at the CIF Arena in a hard fought 1-0 loss to the Western Mustangs.
Waterloo will battle Windsor in back-to-back home games on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (2:30pm) this coming weekend, before closing out their regular season the following weekend in North Bay against Nipissing.
