Men's volleyball picked up a pair of crucial 3-0 victories over Trent this past weekend in Peterborough to keep their playoff aspirations alive. The Warriors have now won five of their last six and sit in 10th in the OUA standings with a 5-9 record.
On Saturday, Waterloo earned a sweep of Trent with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 for their fourth win of the season. The black and gold were led by
Liam MacArthur (Cambridge, ON/) who put down 10 kills while adding one block and three digs.
Noel Campfens (Toronto, On/) was next best with eight kills while
Ben Newell (Brussels, ON/) and
Siraj Khanna (Surrey, BC/) each had five. Setting up Waterloo's attack was
Logan Wenzel (Salt Spring Island, BC/) who added 29 more assists to his season total giving him 440 on the year and 8.8 assists per set which is fifth best in the OUA.
On Sunday, the Warriors again marched to a straight set victory (25-20, 25-21, 25-17) with MacArthur once again leading the way with 14 kills, one ace and four blocks for 17 points. Khanna was also in double digits with 10 points on five kills, three aces and three blocks. Newell (8 points) Campfens (5.5 points) and
Fehin Awobodu (Oakville, ON/) (5.5 points) rounded out Waterloo's attack in the victory.
