It was a dominating performance from the No. 9 women's volleyball team on Saturday at the PAC as they took out the No. 5 McMaster Maruders in four sets (25-13, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19). With the win, Waterloo improved to 12-2 on the season good for first spot in the OUA standings.
It was a very tidy match for the black and gold as they outperformed McMaster in almost every statistical category including points, kills, assists, and digs.
Sarah Glynn (Fredericton, NB) led the way for Waterloo with 18.5 points on 17 kills and two blocks while also having a strong defensive game with 16 digs.
Abbey Neufeld (Battleford, SK/) was also stellar on the night with 17.5 points on 15 kills and three assisted blocks.
Avery Kelly (Calgary AB/) rounded out Waterloo's attack putting away 14 kills in the win.
It was a very well rounded performance on the defensive side of the ball as Waterloo had five players with 10 or more digs. Glynn, Kelly and
Alex Sinik (Calgary, AB/) each had 16 while
Claire Gagne (Cambridge, ON/) had 12 and
Grace Crooks (Ottawa, ON/) 10. Gagne also finished the match with an impressive 45 assists.
The Warriors will travel to Peterborough next weekend for a pair of afternoon matches against Trent before they return home for four straight home matches throughout February to close out the regular season.
