It was looking like the Warriors were going to succumb another midweek loss to the Brock Badgers after falling behind 2-0 after twenty but the bus legs were shook off and the visiting Warriors found their stride, scoring three unanswered in the middle frame while adding one more in the third to skate away with the 4-3 win, spoling Brock's senior night. The win improved Waterloo's record to 12-1-1 on the season giving them 36 points on the season while locking them in as the top seed in the OUA West.
After a sluggish opening 20, the Warriors got back to their game in the second period with
Keiara Raitt (Ancaster, ON/) getting things going at 8:51 with a beautiful short side snipe to cut Brock's lead in half.
Just three minutes later
Leah Herrfort (Palmerston, ON/) got just enough of a loose puck in the slot to get it past Brock's netminder Keelee Hollowell to tie things at two. Four minutes later, Waterloo scored their third straight to take a 3-2 lead as
Carley Olivier (Sudbury/) broke free on a partial brekaway, netting her own rebound to give the black and gold a one goal advantage into the third.
Brock evened the game just 51 seconds into the third before
Courtney Simpson (Sebringville, ON/) regained Waterloo's lead with a similar goal to that of Herrfort's, a broken play in the slot that was banged home by Simpson, her second of the season. The Simpson goal would stand up as the winner as
Mikayla Schnarr (Waterloo, ON/) stood tall making seven big stops down the stretch for her 12th win of the season. Overall, Schnarr turned aside 25 shots while Hollowell made 32 in the loss.
The Warriors will meet Brock again on Saturday night at the PAC as part of Senior Night before they prepare for their playoff run which will get going on Saturday, March 12 at 2:30pm with their opponent yet to be decided.
