Women's hockey put together two perfect road games scoring a combined 12 goals in victories over York and Brock. The two wins improved Waterloo's record to 11-3-0 good for 30 points and first overall in the OUA West.
On Friday night, the Warriors doubled up on the York Lions 6-3 which included four goals in the middle frame from the black and gold.
Leah Herrfort (Palmerston, ON/),
Tatum James (Stratford, ON/) and
Carley Olivier (Sudbury, ON/) all had three points in the win while
Lyndsy Acheson's (Summerland, BC/) first goal of the season stood up as the game winner.
Kassidy McCarthy (Bowmanville, ON/) and
Keiara Raitt (Ancaster, ON/) were the other goal scorers in the big win over York while
Kara Mark (New Hamburg, ON/) was steady in net with 23 stops.
It was a quick turn around on Saturday as the Warriors took on Brock at 4pm and once again lit the lamp six times, skating past the Badgers 6-1.
Carley Olivier (Sudbury, ON/) was outstanding once again with a goal and two assists giving her six points on the weekend while Herrfort notched four more points with a goal and three assists. James added a goal and assist in the win as that trio combined for 18 points in the two road wins. McCarthy also found the back of the net for the second straight game for her fourth of the season. Mark was again solid with 27 stops.
Herrfort's six point weekend propelled her back to the top of the OUA stats leaderboard with eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points.
Waterloo will now look to get healthy and come back with more fire power in 2023 with their first game back scheduled for January 7 against Queen's at CIF Arena.
