Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Warriors go 1-1 in pair of 5-set matches with Gryphons and Blues

For the second straight weekend women's volleyball played a full 10 sets going the distance with Guelph and Toronto in a pair of road matches, beating the Gryphons in five on Friday before falling to the Varsity Blues the next night.

In their win over Guelph, Waterloo was led by none other than Sarah Glynn (Fredericton, NB) who put down 28 kills while adding two aces and three blocks. Abbey Neufeld (Battleford, SK/) was also in double digits in kills with 10 while Avery Kelly (Calgary AB/) added seven and Grace Crooks (Ottawa, ON/) had six. Leading the way defensively was Alex Sinik (Calgary, AB/) with a game high 18 digs while Claire Gagne (Cambridge, ON/) had 11 and was outstanding setting up the Warriors attack with 49 assists.

On Saturday, Waterloo battled back from two sets down to force a fifth set but exhaustion got the best of them as they dropped the final set 7-15.

Glynn was again the leader in kills with 18 giving her an astounding 144 on the year, which is 29 more than any other player in the OUA while she surpassed 800 career kills. Glynn is also putting away 4.97 kills/set a full kill more than any other competitor in the OUA and she also leads the country in that stat. Neufeld also had another strong match with 11 kills while Kelly put away nine and added a solid 22 digs in the match. Gagne finished with 51 assists which puts her second in the OUA with 9.94 assists per set. Nora Kotun (Sherwood Park, AB/) was also key on the defensive side of the ball for Waterloo with 16 digs in the match.

The Warriors will now prepare for their final homestand of 2022 as they take on Nipissing in a pair of home matches this coming weekend (Friday at 6pm and Saturday at 4pm) and the game can be seen live on OUA TV.
