Athletics and Recreation Update: CIF, PAC Pool and Squash Courts now open

As of Monday, July 19 the CIF will be open as a result of our region entering Step 3 of the reopening plan. Areas of programming within the CIF will be Open Recreation, Fitness Classes and the Fitness Centre.

The PAC Pool and Squash Courts will also be available for use, starting on Tuesday, July 20 (lane swims) and Thursday, July 22 (squash courts).

You must reserve your spot in advance and show proof of verification that you have completed the campus check-in as you tap in with your WatCard.

Check in closes 10 minutes after the start of your reservation. If you do not show up, you will be marked as a no show. Due to limited spots available for reservations, we highly encourage you to cancel your reservation in advance if you are not going to be able to attend. If you do not, here are the consequences:

  • 1st no show – warning
  • 2nd no show – 5-day membership suspension
  • 3rd no show – warning
  • 4th no show – 10-day membership suspension

Step 3 (CIF Opens July 19)

The CIF will be opening on Monday, July 19 with the following program areas operating:

In order to participate in any programming, you must reserve your spot and a tap WatCard is required at all times for entry into the building. 

**NEW – Attestation of health will be done on checkin.uwaterloo.ca for all internal programming (you will receive an email automatically if you're on eduroam otherwise you can login from that web page). A Green check will be required to be presented as you tap your WatCard upon entry.

Other details regarding the use of facilities:
  • All spaces are operational with Public Health guidelines in place
  • Participation limits are increasing but are still in place for many program areas
  • General change rooms will be opening for quick use (15 min at start/end) but locker service and showers are not available (except the pool showers)
  • Masks are required in communal spaces (hallways, washrooms, change rooms, entry/exit). 
  • Equipment loans (towels/balls) are not available
  • Entrances remain as CIF Roundabout for CIF Main; CIF Arena for Arena; Field House for FH/Exterior
  • Communal bottles of disinfectant and rags are available in activity spaces
