Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Warriors' season comes to an end in hard fought loss to Blues

Women's volleyball put together a strong match against the No. 2 Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday afternoon in their OUA quarter-final tilt but came up short in a hard fought straight set loss.

Waterloo opened up the first set with a 4-0 lead before Toronto fought back to even the score at 7's. Both teams went back and forth the rest of the way until Toronto pulled away late in the set to take it by a score of 25-18.

The Warriors came out strong again in the second set and took a 16-11 lead into the technical timeout and a 21-17 lead late into the set but the Blues again showed why they are one of the top teams in the country, fighting back to win it 25-22.

The second set loss seemed to take all of the wind out of the Warriors' sail as Toronto led in the third set from start to finish, claiming it 25-18 and the match 3-0.

Sarah Glynn (Fredericton/) led the way with 10.5 points, putting down eight kills and added two aces and one block.

Karen Fan (Oakville/) also put down eight kills while Serena Otshudi (Hamilton/) had four with three blocks and Mackenzie Vallee (Waterdown/) finishing with three.

Claire Gagne (Cambridge/) had 21 assists in the match and Jenna Gravina (Burlington/) led the way with nine digs.

Alina Dorman led all players in the match with 12 kills for the Blues.
