Women's Hockey dropped the opening game of their OUA quarter-final series to York on Wednesday night by a score of 5-1.
After a scoreless opening period, not much separated these two teams but the Lions opened the flood gates midway through the second to take a commanding 4-0 lead. After Kara Washer put the Lions up 1-0 at 3:43, York score three more times in a span of 4:51 to go up 4-0 over the Warriors. Despite the scoreline, it could have been a lot worse if it weren't for
Mikayla Schnarr (Waterloo/) who made several big stops to keep the Warriors within striking distance.
Cynthia Cavanagh (Scarborough/) got one back for the Warriors, tipping in a
Trisha Cho (Mississauga/) point shot to give the black and gold life heading into the final frame, but the Lions shut it down in the third, added an empty netter and took the victory 5-1.
Waterloo is now facing a must-win on Friday night on home ice when they battle the Lions at 7pm at the CIF Arena. Get your
tickets today or be sure to catch the game live on OUA.tv.
