The Warriors women's volleyball team took on Queen's and RMC this past weekend in Kingston coming away with one win and one loss.
On Friday against Queen's, not much separated the two teams as Queen's took the first two sets in extra points (26-28, 28-30) before Waterloo bounced back in another tight set, winning the third 25-22. Unfortunately the black and gold ran out of steam in the fourth as the Gaels took the set 25-15 and match 3-1.
Mackenzie Vallee (Waterdown/) led the Warriors in kills with 14 while adding four aces and three blocks while
Sarah Glynn (Fredericton/) had 10 kills and added four blocks.
Serena Otshudi (Hamilton/) was also solid with seven kills and an impressive eight blocks for 12 points.
Claire Gagne (Cambridge/) finished with 21 assists while
Karen Fan (Oakville/) and
Jenna Gravina (Burlington/) had 13 and 12 digs respectively.
On Saturday, the Warriors bounced back with a straight set win over RMC (18, 19, 25) to improve to 11-6 on the season.
Glynn led the attack with 10 kills and three service aces. Glynn continues to lead the OUA in kills per set (4.02) and overall kills (241) in her 60 sets of action.
Vallee had another strong game with six kills and one block while
Katrine Eistrat (Toronto/) set up the Warriors attack, finishing with 28 assists.
Waterloo will now prepare for their final two games of the regular season, both at home against tough OUA teams. First on Friday against Toronto followed by a match up with Guelph on Senior Night (Saturday). Both games are at 6pm and can be seen live on OUA.tv.
Tied for second in the OUA west with both Western and Guelph at 22 points, these matches will be pivotal in deciding their playoff seeding as the Warriors hope to get top 2 to secure a home playoff game.
