Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Glynn puts down 37 kills in weekend sweep of T-Wolves

Warriors women's volleyball was back on home court for the first time in 2020 and the black and gold made quick work of the visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves winning both of their noon matches to improve to 7-4 on the season.

Sarah Glynn (Fredericton/) was unstoppable in her attack with a total of 37 kills in the two weekend matches. She now leads the OUA with 4.13 kills per set, putting away 190 kills in 46 sets of action.

On Saturday, Waterloo got off to a sluggish start, dropping the first set 25-21 but when they found their legs there was no stopping them as they went on to win the next three, 25-10, 25-10, 25-18.

Glynn went off for 24 kills in the match while adding three blocks and one service ace. Mackenzie Vallee (Waterdown/) and Grace Crooks (Ottawa/) were also big in the Warriors attach, each with nine kills while Karen Fan (Oakville/) put down seven. Serena Otshudi (Stoney Creek/) was a wall at the net with four blocks. Waterloo finished the match with 13 team blocks compared to seven for the visiting Thunderwolves.

Claire Gagne (Cambridge/) and Katrine Eistrat (Toronto/) shared setting duties with Gagne earning 37 assists while Eistrat had nine. Defensively Jenna Gravina (Burlington/) led the way with 11 digs while Gagne and Vallee each had 10.

In Sunday's afternoon tilt, Waterloo got off to a much cleaner start to take the first set 25-21. They cruised past Lakehead in the second 25-17 but stumbled early in the third, going down 10-3 before battling their way back to take the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.

Grace Crooks (Ottawa/) had an outstanding match, leading the way with 16 points on 10 kills, four aces and three blocks while Glynn had 14 points on 13 kills and one ace. Vallee and Otshudi rounded out Waterloo's attack with seven and five kills respectively. Gagne had 30 more assists in the win, giving her 437 on the season, the most in the province.

Waterloo will be back in the PAC on Saturday to face Trent. Note the game time change to 1:00pm as Waterloo will be headed up to North Bay following the men's game (3:00pm) to face Nipissing in their rescheduled match.
