Following their best season in over a decade where they made it to the OUA quarter-finals, men's soccer was back in action for the 2019 season.
Waterloo opened their campaign with a hard fought 2-2 tie with Brock on Warrior Field on Saturday afternoon. After falling behind 2-0 in the opening half, the Warriors scored two late, including the tying marker in injury time to earn a single point.
Sebastian Guerrieri (Oakville/) scored one of his two weekend goals on a penalty kick, wiring the shot into the top corner.
The Warriors then continued to push and were rewarded in extra time as
Ahmad Mansour (Waterdown/) chipped in a loose ball in the box to make it a 2-2 final.
Michael Corkill (Mississauga/) was solid in his Warrior debut in net with six stops.
On Sunday, Waterloo made the short trip down to Guelph and dropped the match by a score of 4-1. Guerrieri found the net for the second consecutive day but it wasn't enough as the Warriors fell to 0-1-1 on the season.
Next up is a matchup with one of the top programs in the country, the York Lions on Sunday at Warrior Field. Kickoff is at 3:15pm.
