Warriors offence comes alive in 6-4 win over Rams

Women's hockey earned a key victory on Saturday afternoon at the CIF topping the Ryerson Rams 6-4. With the win Waterloo improved to 11-6-4 and sit in the seventh spot in the OUA standings with 36 points.

Emma Pye (Oshawa/) scored twice including the game winner while Brooklyn Sarnovsky (Courtice/) had three helpers in the win.

Sarah Rettinger (Kitchener/) opened the scoring for the black and gold with Selena Dirven (Watford/) and Brooklyn Cole (Kitchener/) picking up the helpers. 

Ryerson took a 2-1 lead midway through the opening frame before Waterloo scored two late ones to wrap up a wild opening 20 minutes. Dollee Meigs (Owen Sound/) and Maryn Caragata (Etobicoke/) both got one past Natalie Thompson to give the Warriors a 3-2 lead into the first intermission.

Pye notched her first of two just 53 seconds into the second period to make it a two goal advantage. The Rams got one back before Waterloo regained their two goal lead on Pye's second of the period.

Jenna Hewitt-Kenda (North Vancouver/) provided an insurance marker midway through the third period while Ryerson got one back to make the final 6-4 for the home side.

Waterloo is back at it tomorrow in London against Western at 2:30pm.
