The No. 5 McMaster Marauders took out the Warriors in four close sets on Saturday night at the PAC as Waterloo wrapped up their five game home stand with a 3-2 record.
McMaster took an extremely tight opening set 28-26, one that could have gone either way. Had the Warriors found a way to win that opening set Waterloo would have held a commanding 2-0 lead after dominating the Marauders in the second 25-21.
McMaster however came out strong in the third and fourth set winning them 25-19, 25-17 to claim the match 3-1.
McMaster finished the match with a kill perecentage of .278 while Waterloo operated at .190. McMaster also had eight service aces which proved to be a big factor in the win.
Nolan Spencer (Kitchener/) led the way for Waterloo with 16 kills while
Kevin LeBreux (Cumberland/) had 12 and added three blocks.
Deman Dulat (Mississauga/) and
Jacob Nesbitt (Wakefield/) rounded out Waterloo's attack with seven and five kills respectively while
Colm Guyn (Lethbridge/) fiinished with 41 assists. Guyn also led the way defensively with eight digs.
Waterloo will head to Toronto this Friday to battle Ryerson in hopes of avenging last year's quarter-final loss to the Rams. Game time is 8pm.Â
There is a bus trip planned for the game against Ryerson.
