Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Warriors wrap up historic season with sweep over Windsor, face York in OUA quarter's

The Warriors wrapped up one of their best seasons in program history with a straight set win over Windsor to finish 17-2 on the season. All three sets were tightly contested (25-20, 29-27, 25-22) but the No. 3 Warriors showed their depth in the win.

Two nights prior, Waterloo lost an incredible five set battle to Western in London, only their second loss of the season. In that match, Claire Mackenzie (Vancouver/) and Sarah Glynn (Fredericton/) led the way with 19 and 18 kills respectively.

In their win over Windsor, the Warriors were again led by Mackenzie (15 kills) and Glynn (18 kills). At the net Ella Stewart (Ottawa/) was massive with four blocks while Samantha Warner (Ayr/) had three.

Defensively, Waterloo put on a clinic with 58 digs thanks to a 19 dig performance by fifth year libero Sarah Remedios (Ajax/). Mackenzie collected 11 including some big digs in the third set while Glynn had nine. Setting up the Warriors in the 3-set win was Claire Gagne (Cambridge/) who had 39 assists in the victory.

Waterloo will now prepare for their OUA playoff quarter-final tilt with York this coming Saturday (March 2) at 6:00pm. If Waterloo comes away victorious, they will host the OUA Final Four the following weekend at the PAC.
