Street Sense: Warriors sink Blues in OT

Box Score Hannah Street (Shoal Lake/) netted the game winner 1:09 into the overtime period to lift Waterloo to a 2-1 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday night at the CIF.

In what was a very feisty 2-1 game, Waterloo picked up the extra point in the standings and now sit tied for seventh with Brock, each at 38 points.

Brooklyn Cole (Kitchener/) opened the scoring for Waterloo at 14:37 of the opening frame with Sarah Rettinger (Kitchener/) earning the helper.

After a scoreless middle period, Toronto tied up the game with 8:25 remaining in the third to send the game to overtime.

After a full minute of pressure from the Blues in the extra frame, Samantha Burbridge (Brantford/) made a nice play on her own goal line and took the puck all the way down to Toronto's end where she slid a perfect pass across to Street who buried it on the backhand.

Waterloo will play their final regular season game tonight at home against Laurier. With a regulation win Waterloo can jump into sixth depending on other results from the day. The Warriors opponent is still very much up in the air.
