In a bittersweet return to her former OUA club,
Krystin Lawrence (Tecumseh/) quickly proved she is still one of the top players in the league scoring twice to lead Waterloo to a 3-2 win over the Windsor Lancers.
Lawrence tallied an incredible 85 points in her three full seasons with the Lancers in 72 games played and since joining the Warriors has continued her torrid pace with nine points (5G, 4A) in six games with the black and gold.
Lawrence scored at 11:25 of the opening period and again just 23 seconds into the third, which would hold up as the game winner, to lead Waterloo to their fifth win of the season.
Taytum Claimont scored the other Warrior goal setup by
Sarah Rettinger (Kitchener/) and
Emma Pye (Oshawa/). Clairmont finished with two points in the game, earning an assist on Lawrence's game winner. Claimont now leads the Warriors in points with three goals and seven assists. Her 10 points are good for the second most in the OUA. Between the pipes,
Mikayla Schnarr (Waterloo/) made 16 stops for her third win of the season.
The Warriors are now 5-2-1 on the season and take on York this coming Friday in Toronto before returning home for a rematch with Western on Sunday at 2:30pm. The Warriors were ousted by the Mustangs on Friday afternoon by a score of 2-1.
