Women's volleyball continued their historic season this weekend with two more wins on home court, beating York and Nipissing in straight sets. With the wins, the No. 6 Warriors improved to a perfect 13-0 on the season and are the top seeded team in the province. The black and gold have dropped only seven sets in those 13 wins.
In Saturday afternoon's tilt with the York Lions, the Warriors were led by a pair of outside hitters,
Claire Mackenzie (Vancouver/) and
Sarah Glynn (Fredericton/). The rookie Glynn put down a game high 18 kills and added five digs while Mackenzie had 14 kills and added two service aces, one block and 14 digs.
Samantha Warner (Ayr/) was also a big factor in the straight sets win with nine points on seven kills and two blocks.
Sarah Remedios (Ajax/) collected eight digs and
Claire Gagne (Cambridge/) had an impressive 41 assists. Gagne now sits fourth in the OUA at 8.59 assists per set.
On Sunday it was a team effort up and down as Waterloo showed off their depth in their 13th win of the season, and ninth sweep.
Ella Stewart (Ottawa/) led the charge with 10 kills and five service aces for 15 points while Glynn and Warner each had nine.
Remedios had nine more digs in the win giving her 668 career digs in her illustrious five year career.
Claire Gagne (Cambridge/) and
Katrine Eistrat (Toronto/) teamed up for 32 assists in the win.
