The women's volleyball season came to an end in a 3-set loss to the top-seed Ryerson Rams on Saturday afternoon at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in the heart of Toronto.
Ryerson showed why they haven't lost a match all season long winning the sets 25-14, 25-14, and 25-15 and will now host the OUA women's volleyball final four.
The Rams put away 43 kills compared to 21 for the Warriors.
Waterloo started off the match strong sticking right with the Rams but as the match went on the Warriors just couldn't find an answer for Ryerson's balanced attack.
Claire Mackenzie (Vancouver/) led the way as she has all season with seven kills and three blocks for a team high 9.5 points.
Sarina Trasolini (Vancouver/) and
Serena Otshudi (Stoney Creek/) each had four kills while
Kayla Wierts (Drayton/) had three in her final game as a Warrior.
Claire Gagne (Cambridge/) finished with 17 assists while Trasolini and
Sarah Remedios (Ajax/) finished with seven and six digs respectively.
For the Rams it was Lauren Veltman leading the charge with a game high 13 kills while three other Ryerson players reached eight kills.
The Warriors continue to develop and grow as a program, qualifying for the post-season the past two seasons and with just one graduating senior, the black and gold look to have another promising season coming in 2018-19.
To
Kayla Wierts (Drayton/) who played in her final game as a Warrior, thank you for an incredible five year career and showing true leadership and commitment each and every season.
