The Warriors competed in the first playoff game since 2013 on Wednesday night in Windsor and had a slow middle portion of the game to fall to the Lancers 101-89.
Windsor outscored Waterloo 50-30 in the middle quarter's to pick up the 12 point victory and advance to the second round of the OUA playoffs.
The Warriors stuck right with the hot shooting Lancers going 40.8% from the field compared to Windsor's 46.1%.
The black and gold also hit eight from beyond the arc compared to just 11 for the home side but the difference in the contest came in ball possession with Waterloo committing 14 turnovers while Windsor had just four. The Lancers converted 13 points off those turnovers.
Waterloo was led by their star forward
Nedim Hodzic (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) who had 26 points going a very impressive 12-for-16 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line. To no one's surprise, Hodzic was also a beast on the boards with 18 rebounds, leading all players in that category.
Jeff Baradziej (Grimsby/Wasatch Academy (Utah)) was back from injury and put up good numbers despite not playing for over a month. Baradziej tallied 18 points and four rebounds in a losing effort.
Justin Hardy (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) and
Simon Petrov (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) were also in double digits putting up 13 and 10 points respectively.
Marcus Jones led the way for the Lancers with a game high 33 points while their fifth year veteran Mike Rocca was on his game with 20 points.
