Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Warriors put up strong battle in 4-set loss to Blues

The Warriors women's volleyball team put forth a determined effort against a very strong opponent on Saturday at the PAC.

Waterloo dropped the four set match to the Toronto Varsity Blues but if it weren't for a few unforced errors the match could have gone the other way.

Waterloo dropped the opening two sets by scores of 25-19, before bouncing back in the third to claim the set 25-23. Waterloo put away 17 kills in that set compared to 13 for the visitors.

The Blues however bounced back in the fourth, winning the set by the same score as the first two, 25-19 to come out on top in the match 3-1.

Waterloo's 10 service errors proved costly in the match while Toronto had just four.

Samantha Warner (Ayr/) led the Warriors attack with 14.5 points on 10 kills, three service aces, and three blocks. Claire Mackenzie (Vancouver/) was next best with 13.5 points on 12 kills, one service ace, and one block.

Sarina Trasolini (Vancouver/) moved over to the left side to give the Warriors a strong pass game with both her and Sarah Remedios (Ajax/) playing alongside each other and Trasolini put together a spirited effort with eight kills and a game high 24 digs in the match. Serena Otshudi (Stoney Creek/) rounded out the attack with eight kills of her own.

Waterloo is back in action today at noon against Trent in their final regular season home game. Waterloo's lone senior Kayla Wierts (Drayton/) will be honoured prior to the game for her incredible dedication to the program over the past five seasons.
