After mounting a third period comeback, to defeat the Nipissing Lakers 5-3 in their previous contest, Waterloo was riding a high going into their road trip with Western and Windsor. Unfortunately, Western reversed Waterloo's fortune and mounted a third period comeback of their own to sink Waterloo 4-3 on Friday night in London.
Waterloo had a 3-2 lead going into the final frame thanks to three goals in a span of 5:25 of the middle frame, but Western tallied two goals in under three minutes in the middle portion of the third to take the 4-3 victory.
Andrew Cordssen-David (Washington Crossing/Georgetown Raiders, OJHL) netted his third of the season while
Nick Chyzowski (Kamloops/Kamloops Blazers, WHL) and
Michael Morgan (Scarborough/North York Rangers, OJHL) each banged in their second. Morgan and Chyzowski each finished with two points while
Julian Sime (Mississauga/North Bay Battalion, OHL) took the loss in net stopping 34 of 38 shots faced. Luke Peresinni earned the win for Western turning aside 31 shots.
On Saturday, a short-staffed Warrior squad took on Windsor and fell 7-0. Windsor scored two in each of the opening two periods, and three more in the third while Jonathan Reinhart was solid in net for the home side with a 37-save shutout.
Waterloo will be back at the CIF this weekend with a pair of home games, first Friday against Ryerson followed by Guelph on Saturday. Both games can be seen live on oua.tv with puckdrop set for 7pm.
