It was a scrappy affair between the cross-town rivals on Wednesday night under the lights at Warrior Field as the Warriors and Golden Hawks played to a 1-1 tie.
After a scoreless opening half, Waterloo found the net in the 61st minute as
Hamza Sabeeh (Oakville/) potted a scramble in the box. It was the defenders first career goal and it appeared as if it was going to stand up as the winner but Glorious Okpali had other ideas, netting the tying goal in the 76th minute for his Hawks.
The game got tense down the stretch with three yellow cards in the final 11 minutes but neither team could net the go ahead goal and the match would end at 1 goal a piece.
With the single point Waterloo (6-4-2) moved to 20 points and remain in the third spot in the OUA west but have three teams nipping at their heels, with McMaster, Western and Windsor each at 18 points.Â
The Warriors will hit the road for the next three matches before returning home on October 20 to face Brock on Warrior Field for their final regular season game of the season.
