The Warriors men's volleyball team dropped their season opener on Saturday in Guelph by a score of 3-1.
Guelph won the opening two sets, 25-18 and 25-20 before the Warriors bounced back with a third set victory, 25-19.
Both teams went back and forth in the fourth set before Guelph squeaked it out 25-23, to claim the match.
A pair of rookies led the way for the Warriors with
Nolan Spencer (Kitchener/) putting down nine kills while
Bennett Newell (Brussels/) had seven. Another rookie,
Hayden Cavender (Stratford/) had a nice night at the service line with four aces.
Colm Guyn (Lethbridge/) had 26 assists in the loss.
Guelph's Zach Newman had 14 kills while Max Baxter put down nine.
Waterloo will have the next two weeks off before their home opener on Saturday, Nov 10 against Windsor.Â
