New Year, same old
Nedim Hodzic (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) as the second year standout forward put up 34 points in a 87-65 win over the Algoma Thunderbirds on Friday night at the PAC.
With the win Waterloo improved to 4-7 on the season, finding themselves in a three-way tie for third in the OUA west with Windsor and Algoma.
Hodzic was unstoppable in the contest going 15-for-24 from the field while adding four from the charity stripe. On the boards, Hodzic was also in beast mode with a game high 16 rebounds. Hodzic continues to lead the OUA in rebounds per game and sits second in the nation with 11.2 boards per contest.
Waterloo shot an impressive 50% from the field compared to just 33.3% for the visitors. The Warriors also won the rebound battle 46-35, contributing to the lopsided win.
Justin Malnerich (Cambridge/St. Benedict's Catholic Secondary School) had a big game off the bench with 19 points, 15 of those coming from beyond the arc while
Simon Petrov (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) tallied 16 in the win.
The two will be back at it tonight at the PAC at 8pm as the Warriors look to inch closer to the .500 mark. The game can be seen live on OUA.tv.
