Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Warriors drop pair of home games to Rams and Blues

The Warriors gave up six goals to two different squads from the six in a pair of home weekend losses.

On Saturday, Waterloo fell to the Ryerson Rams 2-1 with all three goals coming in the middle frame. The captain, Amy Barnard (Cambridge/) scored Waterloo's lone goal with assists going to Emma Pye (Oshawa/) and Cynthia Cavanagh (Scarborough/). That line created the most buzz in the game but couldn't find the equalizer in the third.

Stephanie Sluys (Clinton/) was solid in net making 26 stops in the loss.

On Sunday, the Warriors knew three points would go a long way in securing a playoff spot but the home side just couldn't get the offence going in a 4-1 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues.

After another scoreless first period, the two teams exchanged goals and headed into the third period tied at one's. That is where the Blues took over, scoring three goals in under 10 minutes to earn the victory.

Waterloo's lone goal came on a nice setup between Maryn Caragata (Etobicoke/) and Samantha Burbridge (Brantford/) on the power play. With the loss Waterloo falls to 10-8-0 on the season and remain on the outside of the post-season picture with 27 points two back of Laurentian for the final playoff spot.

Waterloo is back in action next weekend on the road, first at UOIT on Friday followed by a clash with the top seeded Queen's Gaels on Saturday in Kingston.
