The Warriors gave up 57 second half points to drop their second of two Battle of Waterloo contests 97-78 to Laurier on Friday night at the PAC.
It was a tight battle after the first two quarters as the two teams went toe-to-toe at both ends of the court but the Hawks found their range and knocked down key shots while the Warriors missed their opportunities down the stretch.
Laurier shot 44.9% from the field while Waterloo shot 40%. The difference in the game came from beyond the arc where Laurier hit 12 three pointers while Waterloo had just four.
Simon Petrov (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) led the way for the black and gold with 23 points while
Nedim Hodzic (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) had 20 and continued his tear on the boards with 15 rebounds.
Justin Hardy (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) rounded out the Warriors attack with 10 points.
The Hawks were led by their star Tevaun Kokko who had a game high 25 points. Ntore Habimana added to Laurier's offence with 19 points.
With the loss Waterloo dropped to 7-10 and sit in fifth in the OUA west while Laurier improved to 9-9 and find themselves in third.
Waterloo is back on the court tonight in St. Catharines to take on the No. 2 Brock Badgers at 8pm.
