The first win of the OUA season eluded the Warriors field hockey team on Saturday in Kingston as Waterloo could only muster a tie. Despite falling to 0-3-1 the Warriors have put together some strong action but have just been unable to find the win column.
In their tie with Queen's, Waterloo's
Larissa McLeod (Cambridge/) scored a beauty penalty stroke, firing it into the top corner of the net. McLeod's goal made it 1-1 into the half before the Gaels went up 2-1 as Mallen found the net. Waterloo would however not back down and their persistence would pay off as second year defender
Mitra Zaimi (Waterloo/) potted her first of the year with just two minutes left in the game to make the final 2-2.
In their second game of the day, Waterloo fell to McGill by a score of 4-1.
Keavah Clancy (Ayr/) was the lone goal scored in that match for the black and gold.
The Warriors will be back in action next Saturday in Toronto with a pair of games against Western and McGill.
