Box Score It was a must win contest for the Waterloo men's volleyball team and the black and gold took care of business on Friday night, taking out the Windsor Lancers in four sets. Â
The Warriors took control of the match early and were able to cruise past the visitors 25-15, 25-19 to grab a 2-0 lead. Â Windsor bounced back with a hard fought third set, winning it 27-25 before Waterloo stepped on the gas once again to close it out, claiming the fourth set 25-21.
Waterloo got a solid effort from a trio of outside hitters as
Braden Cok (Waterloo),
Aidan Simone (London), and
Kevin LeBreux (Cumberland)Â were all impressive in the victory. Â Right side Cok finished the match with a game high 15 points on 12 kills, and five blocks while left side Simone put away 10 kills while adding four big service aces. Â Rookie outside, LeBreux rounded out Waterloo's attack with nine kills and three blocks. Â
Nikola Dimitrijevic (Mississauga)Â put together a solid game in his four sets of action with 30 assists, two service aces, and five digs. Â
Philippe Piche (Ottawa)Â was also a key factor in the win with seven digs. Â
Windsor was led by Brad Gyemi with 15 kills in a strong losing effort while setter Nolan Langley had 33 assists.
The Warriors improve to .500 on the season with a 6-6 record while the Lancers dropped to 2-10.
Waterloo is back on home court today at 8pm as they host rivals Western Mustangs. Â
