Box Score The Waterloo men's volleyball team used a complete team effort to pick up their first victory of the season, defeating the Brock Badgers 3-1 giving head coach
Shayne White a nice gift on his birthday.
After dropping a very tight first set 26-24, the black and gold came back firing in the next three sets winning them 25-19, 25-21, 25-15. The two combatants each had 14 kills in the opening set before Waterloo out hit the Badgers 33-29 in the final three.
Leading Waterloo's attack was
Braden Cok (Waterloo/) who had a whopping 24.5 points on 18 kills, 7 assisted blocks, and three service aces. Cok finished with a .394 kill percentage in the match.
Also playing a big part in the victory was
Aidan Simone (London/) and
Kevin LeBreux (Cumberland/) who each put away nine kills. LeBreux was very efficient in his attack with his nine kills coming on 16 attempts and no errors. Simone was also stellar defensively with a game high 10 digs.
Up the middle
Jordan McConkey (Stratford/) and
Matthew Mawdsley (London/) stood tall with 8 and 6 blocks respectively. The middle blockers also each put away five kills.
Setting up the Warriors offence was
Colm Guyn (Lethbridge/) who continues to impress in his rookie season, finishing the match with 40 assists. Â
For the Badgers it was Tim Spisar and Logan House providing most of the offence with 11 and 10 kills respectively.
The Warriors will now go on a four game road trip, starting with a visit to Kingston next weekend to face RMC on Friday and Queen's on Saturday.Â
