Warriors split final road trip of 2017

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Warriors men's volleyball team split their final two road games of the 2017, defeating the Nipissing Lakers 3-1 before dropping another five set marathon, this time to the York Lions.  

On Friday, Waterloo won their third match of the season taking out the Lakers in four sets.  It was a tight battle but Waterloo prevailed taking the fourth and final set 25-21.  

Aidan Simone (London/) and Kevin LeBreux (Cumberland/) led the way with 15 points each. Simone put away 10 kills while having a strong night at the service line with four aces. Defensively he was also on his game with a game high 10 digs. LeBreux had nine kills and topped Simone's aces by one with five in the match. 

Braden Cok (Waterloo/) and Jordan McConkey (Stratford/) rounded out Waterloo's attack, each with seven kills.  

Setting up the Warriors was rookie Colm Guyn who finished with 28 assists.

On Saturday, Waterloo met another big time rival in the York Lions and to the surprise of no one the two went the distance.  After dropping the first two sets 25-19, Waterloo battle back winning the next two by the same score line.  Unfortunately the black and gold ran out of steam in the fifth and deciding set, dropping it 15-7 to fall to 3-5 on the season.

Simone led the way once again with 15 points on nine kills and six blocks.  Cok posted 14.5 points while McConkey had eight which included an impressive seven blocks. Guyn finished with 33 assists in the loss.

The Warriors will close out 2017 next Saturday at home as they face the undefeated Ryerson Rams.  A win will go a long way in the standings as Waterloo currently sits in a tie for third with six points
