Box Score 2 It was another eventful Kingston road trip for the men's volleyball team going 1-1 in games with RMC and Queen's.
On Friday the Warriors swept aside the Paladins 3-0 before another instant classic with their biggest rivals, Queen's on Saturday. Unfortunately Waterloo could not close out the Gaels up 2-1 in the match and dropped a five set thriller.
Braden Cok (Waterloo/) led the Warriors in their 3-0 win over RMC with 13 points on 10 kills, two service aces and one block.
Aidan Simone (London/) was the next highest point getter with 10 while
Jordan McConkey (Stratford/) had eight.
Colm Guyn (Lethbridge/) earned 24 assists in the win.
On Saturday, it was an epic battle that went the distance and lasted over two hours. After splitting the first two sets, Waterloo won their longest set of the year 34-32 on a kill emphatically put away by Simone. The fourth set was again a nail-biter with the Gaels taking it 25-23 sending the match to a fifth. In that final set Queen's got out to an early 4-1 lead that grew to a 13-6 lead. Waterloo could not recover and dropped the set 15-11, and match 3-2.
Simone led the way with 18 kills while Cok had 16. At the net
Matthew Mawdsley (London/) was a beast with nine blocks while Guyn had 5. Guyn also put up big setting numbers with 55 assists in a strong losing effort.
The Warriors will now look ahead to next weekend as they face Nipissing and York both on the road, before closing out 2017 at home on Saturday, Nov. 25 against Ryerson
