Box Score 2 It wasn't the opening weekend the Warriors men's volleyball team had hoped for with two tough losses to Windsor and Western.
On Friday night, Waterloo struggled with their passing and serving all night long and it cost the Warriors in a 3-0 (22, 23, 18) loss. The Warriors finished with six receiving errors and 13 service errors in the match.
Aidan Simone (London/) led the way with 13 kills while
Braden Cok (Waterloo/) had 11. Rookie setter
Colm Guyn (Lethbridge/) had a nice debut in the black and gold with 44 assists.
On Saturday, Waterloo put forth a much better effort against a tough Western Mustangs team but came away on the losing end, 3-1. Errors again proved costly with 19 serving errors in the match. Â
All four sets were tighlty contested with the Warriors winning the opening one 30-28 before Western took the next three 25-23, 25-18, 25-23.Â
Braden Cok (Waterloo/) was a force with 21 points in the match on 18 kills, one service ace and four assisted blocks.Â
Jordan McConkey (Stratford/) had a strong game at the net with seven blocks while Guyn finished with 39 assists.Â
Philippe Piche (Ottawa/) led the way defensively with 10 digs. Â
The Warriors will look to turn things around next weekend with a pair of matches, first on Friday at McMaster and then back at the PAC on Saturday against Brock.
