Box Score Algoma outscored the Warriors 30-12 in the third quarter while the black and gold did all they could to recover in the fourth but ultimately fell by a score of 77-68.
Waterloo got it back to within six points down the stretch but the Thunderbirds made their free throw's to earn the nine point victory.
The win improved Algoma's record to 3-8 while Waterloo fell to 2-9.
For the second straight night, rookie forward
Nedim Hodzic (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) was outstanding for the Warriors putting up a new career high in points with 23. Hodzic went 7-for-18 from the field and also had a busy night at the free throw line, knocking down nine of 11 attempts. Hodzic was also a beast on the boards with 12, nine of them coming on the defensive side.
Jon Ravenhorst (Sarnia/Sarnia Northern) and
Ben Davis (Mississauga/Central Wyoming) also had good nights with 14 and 12 points respectively.
Adam Benrabah led the way for the visitors with 17 points while Damian Okungbowa had a nice night off the bench with 14 in 18 minutes of action.
The Warriors will now have a short turn around as they prepare for a school day game with Laurier on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 11am at the Golden Hawks' Athletic Complex.
