Box Score The Warriors will have to wait another day to clinch a playoff berth after another hard fought loss. Waterloo allowed two goals in 24 seconds in the dying minutes of a 3-2 loss to York on Sunday afternoon in Toronto.
York scored at 1:58 of the first period as Justine Treadwell beat
Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia) and the score remained 1-0 in favour of the Lions until
Dana Fairbarn (Maple) scored her first ever CIS goal five minutes into the third period to even the score.
Stephanie Digness (Aldergrove) picked up the lone helper on the goal.
Waterloo took the lead ten minutes later when
Amy Barnard (Cambridge) fired home her second of the season on a nice setup by
Marissa Redmond (Ajax). With time winding down it looked as if the Warriors were going to come away with three big points but York had other ideas.
Chelsea Tucker evened the game at two's with 1:45 remaining in the game and then 24 seconds later disaster struck as Stephanie Dovaston put away the game winning goal to steal the victory away from the visiting Warriors.
Waterloo fell to 12-8-1 on the season and find themselves in a tie for sixth with Laurier, both who have 35 points. Waterloo needs one more point to clinch a playoff berth and the black and gold can climb as high as second or drop down as low as eighth with three games remaining.
The Warriors will travel to Windsor this Friday to take on the Lancers before closing out the season with two home games against Western and Ryerson.
