Box Score The Waterloo women's hockey team came within one goal of Western but could not find the equalizer late as they dropped a rare Thursday night game to the visiting Mustangs by a score of 3-2.  It was another missed opportunity by the Warriors who have dropped four of their last five games. 

With the win Western catapulted into second spot with 45 points but Toronto who is right behind them with 44 points has two games remaining while Western has played all of their 24 games.  Waterloo remains in a tie for sixth spot with Laurier at 38 points with both teams having one game remaining.  Laurier will take on Queen's at home while Waterloo battles Ryerson, also at home.

The Mustangs opened the scoring just 2:43 into the contest as Catherine O'Connor walked right down broadway and roofed one past Stephanie Sluys (Clinton). 

The scoring would remain 1-0 in favour of the visitors until Alyssa Gee (Ajax) received a nice pass from Carolyn Burke (Mississauga) and ripped it off the post and in past Western keeper Kelly Campbell to even the game at one.

The Mustangs regained their one goal lead six minutes later as Evra Levesque beat Sluys to take a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

Just 39 seconds into the final frame, Brittany Clapham put her Mustangs up by two making it an uphill climb for the black and gold.  Waterloo would pepper Campbell with all sorts of chances and would finally convert at 18:51 as Paula LaGamba (Toronto) tipped in a Stephanie Digness (Aldergrove) point shot.  That is as close as the Warriors would come in the 3-2 loss.

Sluys was steady for the Warriors stopping 30 of 33 shots faced while Campbell turned aside 25.

Waterloo will take on the Ryerson Rams on Saturday (2pm) in their final contest of the year with several post-season scenarios still to play out.
